What our employees say about SYSTRA Canada
Director, Engineering – Rolling Stock
I have had the opportunity to work for SYSTRA Canada and its predecessor for 18 years now. The work is challenging, interesting, rewarding and varied. The company has a great mix of seasoned industry veterans and up and coming impressive young engineers and designers.
A constant in this environment is the unwavering desire by colleagues to help solve problems. We are often faced with innovative challenges and, in my tenure here, there has always been great cooperation to get the job done, coupled with an excellent office atmosphere. As a bonus – best coffee machine of any employer in the Montreal area!
JEAN-FRANÇOIS CASGRAIN, Eng.
Civil Engineer - Transit
Since joining SYSTRA Canada in April 2014, I have been fortunate to be part of a team where everyone brings complementary knowledge and skills and is happy to share them with their colleagues. The projects in which I participated are varied, both geographically (Montreal and surrounding areas, Northern Quebec, elsewhere in Canada, and even in Asia and Africa) and from infrastructure to studies (railways for the passenger transportation and/or goods, railway stations, crossings, maintenance workshops).
If you join SYSTRA Canada, you will be involved in interesting projects, you will perfect your knowledge and contribute to the development of a growing business sector.
THOMAS HEWITT, Eng.
Technico-commercial Manager - Rolling Stock
I came to SYSTRA Canada with five years of experience in the domestic railway market, a passion for transportation, and an interest in international travel and business.
My responsibilities have grown from working on small design projects to managing relatively complex international projects. The railways are truly fascinating on a global scale, from locomotive and wagon design, to civil works, signalling technologies, operations, and economics. SYSTRA Canada has allowed me to learn and work in all these domains allowing me to grow my career. SYSTRA Canada’s management saw in me what I did not know was there and gave me the tools and opportunities to develop and work on many projects. I also greatly appreciate the human relations that I have formed here, both at the company itself and with customers and suppliers from around the world. The people employed by SYSTRA Canada, both young and experienced, are what makes SYSTRA Canada a special place to work; it is here that I have truly formed some of the best relationships of my career.
If you are driven, self-motivated, want to see the world, are looking for a challenge, and want to work in an environmentally friendly and expanding industry, then SYSTRA Canada is for you.
Marketing Specialist - Business Development
Being part of SYSTRA Canada means being part of a big family. We work in a convivial environment, where respect and collaboration come first.
Right from the time I was hired, in March 2017, I was given the opportunity to work on major projects at many occasions, which allowed me to gain valuable experience and expertise. It is very motivating to have the flexibility to evolve in our day-to-day job by bringing ideas that can contribute to improving the quality of services offered to our clientele.
SYSTRA Canada is the ideal firm for anyone who is motivated and wants to promote excellence and innovation.
Project Management Officer - Transit
It’s a very exciting time to work for SYSTRA Canada! Since joining 18 months ago in an intracompany transfer, I have witnessed firsthand a company that is hungry for growth and the opportunity to demonstrate its technical excellence in the built environment. In this time, I have been given the opportunities to take on greater levels of responsibilities and really expand my experiences on some of the biggest programs Ontario has ever undertaken.
Furthermore, the culture of the people has been incredible; all colleagues work with a huge amount of passion, pride, and willingness to share and learn. Right from the first day, I have felt welcomed into the company (and country) with open arms and this support hasn’t faltered since.
SYSTRA Canada is a great place to work for anyone who is ambitious, inquisitive, and looking for a challenge. You will be greatly received and encouraged to reach your full potential!
Specialist, Environmental Studies - Transit
As an Environmental Specialist at SYSTRA Canada for almost four years, I’ve coordinated environmental projects, including studies evaluating climate changes’ impact on infrastructure.
I initially joined SYSTRA Canada to work on the Quebec City Tramway, then on the REM de l’Est project, to coordinate and prepare relevant studies for official authorization and hearings. Also, I am proud to contribute to the GO Expansion project in Toronto as an Environmental Manager.
In addition, my colleagues and I are working on integrating concepts of sustainable development into the core of SYSTRA Canada’s work policies.
So why SYSTRA? I know that the projects I participate in here respect the environment and push towards a sustainable future and that they have a significant and positive impact in the places where they are undertaken. My work here matches my values; I work alongside a dynamic, versatile, international, and upbeat team that looks towards the future and makes me feel at home.
