SYSTRA Present at World Summit for Sustainable Mobility

Movin’on, the global summit on sustainable mobility created by Michelin, was held in Montreal, Canada from 4th to 6th June. SYSTRA experts were present for the third edition of this major meeting.

A trade fair or a festival? Installed on the banks of the Saint Lawrence River, Movin’on is a bit of both. For this 2019 edition, the main topics for discussion were new forms of mobility, multimodality in the urban environment, autonomous technologies and artificial intelligence. So many crucial subjects for the future of our travel and so many challenges to meet in designing new models and sustainable mobility services, in a new transport ecosystem.

SYSTRA’s Urban Projects in Canada Highlighted

The SYSTRA Canada teams, accompanied by Fabrizio Di Leta from the Technical Directorate, and Louis-Marie Borione, BIM Manager, from Paris highlighted our technical know-how, our expertise in urban transport modes and our role accompanying Quebec and Montreal in identifying new mobility solutions. This was an occasion for the Group to speak about the mobility network structuring project, the biggest construction project ever undertaken in the city of Quebec and for which SYSTRA Canada is in charge.

The other major urban project in which SYSTRA Canada was recently involved, accompanying STM, the public transport agency that operates Montreal’s integrated transit network in the electrification of its bus fleet, was an opportunity to enhance our experience in complex systems integration. Read about these projects in the 2018 activity report, SIGNATURES.

SYSTRA Solutions in the Spotlight

SYSTRA Canada developed a specific simulation tool, THES (Transport Hub Electric Simulator) to carry out complex calculations resulting in dynamic operation scenarios for bus journeys.

Demonstrations of this solution were given during the three days of the summit and in a personalised way, for example to Guillaume Pepy, CEO of SNCF, who was invited as speaker, notably on decarbonation and air quality.

SYSTRA’s BIM (Building Information Modelling) solutions were also presented to visitors, an opportunity to make international contacts with sector professionals, especially decision makers in Quebec’s BIM programme. On the fringes of the event, constructive technical discussions between the teams of the Technical Directorate and those from SYSTRA Canada took place with a view to pooling our BIM skills for the benefit of future projects.
